Our EYFS Curriculum

At our nursery, we provide a caring, stimulating and inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to learn through play, exploration and meaningful experiences. Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which supports children from birth to five years in developing the skills, confidence and knowledge they need for school and for life.

How Children Learn

Children learn best through play, curiosity and first-hand experiences. Our experienced practitioners carefully plan activities based on each child's interests, developmental stage and individual needs. We encourage children to investigate, ask questions, solve problems and develop independence while having fun.Our curriculum combines child-led learning with carefully planned adult-guided experiences to ensure children make excellent progress across all areas of development.

Communication and Language

Children develop listening, attention, understanding and speaking skills through stories, songs, conversations, role play and daily interactions.

 

Physical Development

Children build strength, coordination and confidence through outdoor play, climbing, balancing, dance, fine motor activities and self-care routines.Personal, Social and Emotional DevelopmentWe help children develop confidence, resilience, friendships and emotional wellbeing by encouraging kindness, independence, cooperation and respect for others.

Literacy

Children develop a love of books, stories and early writing through reading, mark-making, rhymes, storytelling and phonics-rich experiences.

 

Mathematics

Children explore numbers, counting, shapes, patterns, measuring and problem-solving through practical play and everyday experiences.Understanding the WorldChildren discover people, places, nature, technology and different cultures through exploration, investigation, celebrations and community experiences.

 

Expressive Arts and Design

 

Creativity flourishes through music, dance, art, imaginative play, construction and opportunities for children to express their own ideas.

 

Learning Through Play

Play is at the heart of everything we do. Through purposeful play, children develop confidence, creativity, language, social skills and a lifelong love of learning. Our practitioners extend children's thinking by asking questions, introducing new vocabulary and encouraging exploration.

 

Outdoor Learning

We believe children benefit from spending time outdoors every day. Our outdoor environment provides opportunities for physical development, nature exploration, problem-solving, risk assessment and imaginative play in all seasons.

 

Working in Partnership with Parents

 

Parents are a child's first and most important educators. We work closely with families to share learning, celebrate achievements and support each child's development. Regular observations, progress updates and daily communication help us work together to give every child the best possible start.

 

Supporting Every Child

 

We recognise that every child develops at their own pace. Our experienced team provides inclusive support that reflects each child's interests, strengths and individual needs. We work alongside parents and other professionals where appropriate to ensure every child can reach their full potential.

 

Preparing for School

 

Our curriculum helps children develop the confidence, independence and skills they need for a smooth transition to school. Through engaging learning experiences, positive relationships and a focus on communication, self-care, resilience and curiosity, we prepare children to become happy, capable and enthusiastic learners.
